ANNIE CURRENTLY WORKS as Federal Enrolment Officer for Gem-Ed Australia, the educational arm of the GAA since September 2012.

Annie has worked as a gemmologist and a sales professional with experience in retail operations, manufacturing, administration, design consultant focused on gems and diamond jewellery. Annie's interests and achievements are:

  • Practical demonstrator for GAA gemmology diploma students since 2001
  • Certificate IV in Gemmological Studies & Diploma in Gemmology with Practical Honours - Howard J. Lem Award, 2000
  • Diploma in Diamond Technology and Practical Diamond Grading, 2001
  • Synthetic & Gemmology Updates, Advanced Pearls, Advanced Practical Diamond Grading 2002-2003
  • Certificate IV in (TAE) Training and Education 2013
  • Member of GAA (Vic) since 1997
  • Serves on the Victorian Committee Council, since 2001
  • Member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, 2000-2012
  • Has completed regular GIA-Gemmological Challenges between 2001–2007

GRANT IS A THIRD GENERATION wholesale coloured stone merchant. He completed the Diploma in Gemmology in 1975, Diploma in Diamond Technology in 1977 and was a member of the pilot valuation course. He became a Registered Valuer in 1981, as well as:

  • Chairman of valuation committee for 12 years and member of the committee for 20 years.
  • Gemmology practical demonstrator since 1976
  • Senior Gemmology theory lecturer since 1980
  • State President GAA for 2 terms, Vice-president for 3 terms
  • Federal Chairman GAA for 1 term
  • Federal President GAA for 1 term
  • Awarded Honorary Life Member in 2012
Grant is the current Chief Examiner for the Board of Studies and Examination. He lectures extensively throughout Australia on gemmology and valuation of coloured stones and is a member of the International Coloured Gemstone Association and has attended numerous ICA and GIA conferences. Grant travels internationally buying coloured stones.

He was asked by Melbourne Museum to provide an information video for their “Dynamic Earth” display.
