Advanced Gemstone Inclusions This two-day course exposes you to both typical and atypical inclusions in treated, untreated and synthetic material, honing your diagnostic skills and immersing you deeper into the beauty and wonder of gemstones. A coloured inclusions manual is provided. Prerequisite: Diploma of Gemmology or equivalent 6 CDP available to NCJV members. |

Advanced Opal 10 CPD points available to NCJV members This two-day course covers folklore, opal traders, collectors and craftsmen as well as opal nomenclature and geological occurrence in Australia and globally. Current techniques for processing opal and maximising its 'play of colour', including opal inlay and mosaic are discussed. Current and historical synthetic and imitation opal are examined and discussed. A review of Ethiopian opal completes this fascinating course. |

Introduction to Antique Jewellery 8 CPD points available to NCJV members Are you interested in antiques? Starting with a brief history and outline of antique jewellery periods, this course overviews the use of gemstones, synthetics, imitants and unusual materials used in vintage jewellery. Metal hallmarks and makers marks are discussed as an aid to dating jewellery. Factors to consider when identifying, buying or selling Georgian, Victorian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau Styles are also reviewed. |

Jewellery Design-Concept to Creation This course will take you through the complete jewellery design process - from asking the right questions to communicating to the workshop or CAD designer to drawing and presenting the design. It will also teach how to factor gemstones (e.g. shape and hardness) and other aspects into your design. Members prices are only applicable as a current financial GAA member at the time of enrolment. Membership fees must be renewed annually and maintained in order to use any fellowship status. Membership fees are currently set at $240.00 (+ $22.00 administrative application fee for new members) for 2020.
