FEDERAL AWARDS
Federal Awards are made at the discretion of the Board of Studies and Examinations and approved by the Federal Council. Full terms and conditions for each award are found in the Resolutions of the Gemmological Association of Australia as amended from time to time.
Geoff Tombs Medal
The Geoff Tombs medal is the highest Award that can be granted to a Gemmology student. It is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student with the highest aggregate marks in their practical and theory examinations. The prize consists of a dye struck medal as well as cash to be put towards books and equipment.
Julia Myers Practical Award
The Julia Myers Practical Award is awarded to the student who completes the best practical papers in Gemmology 2, provided they are also successful in completing theory. The prize consists of a certificate as well as cash to be put towards books and equipment.
Sutherland Diamond Award
The Sutherland Diamond Award is awarded to the Diamond Technology student with the highest aggregate marks in their practical diamond grading, advanced practical diamond grading, theory examinations and research paper. The prize consists of a dye struck medal as well as cash to be put towards books and equipment
STATE AWARDS
State Awards are made at the discretion of the State Management Committee in the State in which the student is enrolled. The student must receive the grade of Distinction to be eligible for an Award. Full terms and conditions for each Award are found in the constitution of each State Division as amended from time to time.
New South Wales
New South Wales Trustees Award
The New South Wales Trustees Award is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest set of practical examination papers.
NSW Management Committee Prize
The NSW Management Committee Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
Victoria
Howard J.Lem Memorial Prize
The Howard J. Lem Memorial Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who completes the best set of practical examination papers.
Victorian State Prize
The Victorian State Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
Queensland
John Andrew Prize
The John Andrew Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who completes the best aggregate marks of practical and theory, who has not undertaken a science based tertiary education.
Queensland State Division Prize
The Queensland State Division Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
Western Australia
F. M. Mardiros Memorial Prize
The F. M. Mardiros Memorial Prize is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
South Australia
Stevenson Award
The Stevenson Award is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
Marion Bartram Prize
The Marion Bartram award is awarded to the most improved practical student in Gemmology 2, at the discretion of the teaching staff.
Jack Townsend Award
The Jack Townsend award is awarded to the most improved theory student in Gemmology 2, at the discretion of the teaching staff.
Tasmania
George Norris Award
The George Norris Award is awarded to the Gemmology 2 student who achieves the highest aggregate marks of practical and theory.
