I loved this course! We were introduced to a wide breadth of gemstones, with the perfect balance of technical lectures as well as some hands on lab work. Every lecturer was a skilful teacher and their passion was absolutely infectious. The course materials were excellent too. Highly recommend!

I had begun to think there was little left in life to interest or inspire me, merely repeats of things done before, then I enrolled in the courses at GAA House. My only regret is that I did not know about gemmology studies thirty or forty years ago. This course has awoken forgotten areas from memory and subjects from school, along with a thirst for lost delights.

I attended the introduction to gemmology class last year and absolutely loved it. It blew my mind how much there is to learn. The class was jam packed full of information on ways in which stones are identified, how they are formed, where they are found, and any history surrounding them. The trainers were really passionate about what they were teaching and had some great stories of their own to tell, which added to the whole experience. The day went by so quickly and although I learned so much, it left me wanting to know even more - I definitely have a new appreciation for jewellery and can’t wait to do more of the introductory classes and eventually the Diploma in Gemmology. I recommend anyone who has an interest in gemstones to attend the introductory courses - well worth the investment. It was also a great opportunity to meet some inspiring people who I wouldn’t usually cross paths with, some of who were planning to do the Diploma and embarking on brand new career adventures such as jewellery design, and others who already had interesting careers behind them or just a had a long-standing passion for gems.
